Will Jaya Prada and Amar Singh’s pardon plea get Sanjay Dutt relief?

The former Samajwadi party leader and the Lok Sabha MP will meet the state Governor K Sankaranarayanan tomorrow to seek pardon for the Munnabhai actor

It is not only Bollywood stalwarts who are voicing their opinion to free Munnabhai aka Sanjay Dutt from the three and half years imprisonment sentence. National leaders too are speaking out against the verdict and appealing for a pardon. Amar Singh and Jaya Prada have now joined hands in the on-going campaign to set Dutt free.

It’s learnt that Amar Singh and Jaya Prada have sought an appointment with the Governor of Maharashtra, K Sankaranarayanan, to discuss the issue tomorrow, and the meeting may take place any time post 6 pm. Not to forget that Singh has been close to Dutt and was his mentor when the P.K. actor decided to do netagiri. Several other known names including Press Council of India Chairman Markandey Katju and actor-turned-politicians, Jaya Bachchan and Shatrughan Sinha have also sought pardon for Dutt.

In a statement on Thursday, Katju had sought pardon for Dutt under Article 161 of the Constitution saying that he was not found guilty of playing a role in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts case and that he has already suffered a lot in the last two decades. Do you think the Governor will consider the plea and free Sanju of his sentence?
